✧ That Abu Bakr went out, and nothing brought him out but hunger, and that Umar went out, and nothing brought him out but hunger, and that the Prophet ﷺ came out to them, and they told him that nothing had brought them out but hunger. He said, "Come with us to the house of a man from the Ansar called Abu al-Haytham b. al-Tayhan." When he was not at home—he had gone to fetch water—the woman welcomed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his two companions and spread something for them, and they sat on it. The Prophet ﷺ asked her, "Where has Abu al-Haytham gone?" She said, "He has gone to fetch fresh water for us." He did not wait long before he came with a water-skin containing water and hung it up. He wanted to slaughter a sheep for them, but it was as if the Prophet ﷺ disliked that for them. So he slaughtered a young she-goat for them. Then he went off and came with clusters of dates. They ate of that meat, unripe dates, and ripe dates, and drank from the water. One of the two—either Abu Bakr or Umar—said, "This is part of the bliss about which we will be asked." The Prophet ﷺ said, "The believer is not reproached for anything he obtains in this world; only the disbeliever is reproached."
