✧ O my son, keep my secret, and you will be a believer. I have never disclosed his secret to anyone, even if it were my mother. The wives of the Prophet ﷺ ask me to tell them his secret, but I do not tell them, and I will never tell anyone his secret. Then he said: O my son, perfect your ablution, and your lifespan will be increased, and your two guardian angels will love you. Then he said: O my son, if you are able not to spend a night except in a state of ablution, then do so, for whoever death comes to while he is in a state of ablution will be given martyrdom. Then he said: O my son, if you are able to keep praying without ceasing, then do so, for the angels will keep praying for you as long as you keep praying. Then he said: O my son, beware of turning around in prayer, for turning around in prayer is destruction. If it is unavoidable, then in voluntary prayer, not in the obligatory prayer. Then he said to me: O my son, when you bow, place your palms on your knees, spread your fingers apart, and raise your hands away from your sides. When you raise your head from bowing, let every limb return to its proper position, for Allah will not look on the Day of Resurrection at one who does not straighten his backbone in his bowing and prostration. Then he said: O my son, when you prostrate, do not peck as a rooster pecks, and do not sit as a dog sits, and do not spread your forearms as a beast of prey spreads them. Spread the tops of your feet on the ground, and place your buttocks on your heels, for that will be easier for you on the Day of Resurrection in your reckoning. Then he said: O my son, be thorough in washing from major ritual impurity, and you will come out of your bath with no sin and no error upon you. I said: May my father and mother be your ransom, what is thoroughness? He said: You wet the roots of your hair and cleanse the skin. Then he said to me: O my son, if you are able to make some of your prayers in your house, then do so, for it increases the good of your house. Then he said to me: O my son, when you enter upon your family, greet them with peace, and it will be a blessing upon you and upon your household. Then he said: O my son, when you leave your house, let not your gaze fall upon anyone of the people of the Qiblah except that you greet him with peace, and you will return with your good deeds increased. Then he said: O my son, if you are able to pass the evening and morning with no deceit in your heart toward anyone, then do so. Then he said to me: O my son, when you leave your family, let not your gaze fall upon anyone of the people of the Qiblah except that you think he has more merit than you. Then he said to me: O my son, if you preserve my advice, then let nothing be dearer to you than death. Then he said to me: O my son, that is from my Sunnah. Whoever revives my Sunnah has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise. - This is not reported from Anas in this complete form except with this chain. Muslim al-Ansari was alone in it, and he was trustworthy.
