✧ I served the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for ten years, and I never knew of anything that I did that suited him or anything that I did that displeased him, out of contentment with what Allah, Exalted, had decreed. Some of his wives would say: "If only you had done such and such; why did you do such and such?" He would say: "Leave him, for nothing occurs except what Allah wills." I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ take revenge for himself over anything, unless a sacred ordinance of Allah was violated. When a sacred ordinance of Allah was violated, he was the most intense of people in anger for Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Never were two matters presented to him but that he chose the easier of them, as long as it did not entail Allah's displeasure. If it entailed Allah's displeasure, he was the farthest of people from it.
