✧ The liar is not the one who reconciles between people, saying good or conveying good. She said: I did not hear him grant a concession regarding anything that people say as a lie except in three cases: in war, in reconciliation, and in a man’s speech to his wife.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAl-Zubaydī, Ṣāliḥ b. Kaysān, Shuʿayb b. Abī Ḥamzah and al-Jarrāḥ b. al-Minhāl narrated it from al-Zuhrī with this chain of transmission, and he added in it: He said: and he did not permit any of what people say is a lie except in three cases. It is said that this is not from the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, but rather it is from the words of al-Zuhrī, and whoever said in it "she said: and he did not permit" has made an error; rather it is "he said," meaning al-Zuhrī.
