حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ، ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ. عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ
أَنَّ أَبَاهُ تُوُفِّيَ وَتَرَكَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثِينَ وَسْقًا لِرَجُلٍ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ، فَاسْتَنْظَرَهُ جَابِرٌ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يُنْظِرَهُ، وَكَلَّمَ جَابِرٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَشْفَعُ إِلَيْهِ، فَجَاءَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَلَّمَ الْيَهُودِيَّ لِيَأْخُذَ تَمْرَهُ كُلَّهُ، فَأَبَى عَلَيْهِ، وَكَلَّمَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُنْظِرَهُ، فَأَبَى، فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَوْفَاهُ ثَلَاثِينَ وَسْقًا، وَفَضَلَ لَهُ عَشَرَةُ أَوْسُقٍ، فَجَاءَ جَابِرٌ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِالَّذِي فَضَلَ فَوَجَدَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَاءَهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ أَوْفَاهُ، وَأَخْبَرَهُ بِالْفَضْلِ الَّذِي فَضَلَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَخْبِرْ بِذَلِكَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، فَذَهَبَ جَابِرٌ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ، فَقَالَ: لَقَدْ عَلِمْتُ حِينَ مَشَى فِيهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيُبَارِكَنَّ اللهُ فِيهَا ".

✧ His father died leaving a debt of thirty wasqs owed to a Jewish man. Jabir asked for a delay, but he refused. Jabir spoke to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, seeking his intercession. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and asked the Jew to take all his dates, but he refused. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him to grant a delay, but he refused. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the garden and paid him thirty wasqs, and ten wasqs remained surplus for Jabir. Jabir came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to tell him of the surplus and found him praying 'Asr. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had finished, Jabir came to him and told him that he had paid the debt in full, and informed him of the surplus that remained. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Tell that to 'Umar b. al-Khattab.' Jabir went to 'Umar and informed him, and he said: 'I knew when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ walked through it that Allah would surely bless it.'
