حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ عَبَّادٍ الدِّيَلِيَّ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ:
أَمَّا مَا أَسْمَعُكُمْ تَقُولُونَ: إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا كَانَتْ تَنَالُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِنِّي أَكْثَرُ مَا رَأَيْتُ أَنَّ مَنْزِلَهُ كَانَ بَيْنَ مَنْزِلِ أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَعُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ، فَكَانَ يَنْقَلِبُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ، فَيَجِدُ الْأَرْحَامَ وَالدِّمَاءَ، وَالْأَنْجَاثَ، قَدْ تَصَدَّتْ عَلَى بَابِهِ، فَيُنَحِّي ذَلِكَ بِسِيَةِ قَوْسِهِ وَيَقُولُ: بِئْسَ الْجِوَارُ هَذَا يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ

✧ As for what I hear you saying—that Quraysh used to insult the Messenger of God ﷺ—indeed, the most I saw was that his house was between the house of Abu Lahab and 'Uqbah b. Abi Mu'ayt. The Messenger of God ﷺ would return to his house and find wombs and blood and filth that had been placed at his door, and he would push that aside with the tip of his bow and say: “What bad neighbors these are, O assembly of Quraysh!”
