✧ Command your husbands to wash away traces of excrement and urine, for I am too shy to command them to do that. The Messenger of God ﷺ used to do it.

machine translationNone narrated it from her except Hishām b. Ḥassān; ʿUmar b. al-Mughīrah was alone in narrating it. And regarding the hadith of Isḥāq, when he narrated it in the same way, he said: None narrated it from him except Ibrāhīm b. Marthad al-ʿAdawī; Ḥawtharah b. Ashras was alone in narrating it.

machine translationThe companions of Muʿādhah differed concerning this hadith. Qatādah raised it (as a statement of the Prophet ﷺ), but it is not widespread from him. Yazīd al-Rishk made it stopped (mawqūf, a statement of the Companion), and his companions agreed upon that, except Ibn Shawdhab, who raised it; the error in that is from him or from Ḍamrah. The correct position is what Shuʿbah, Ibn ʿUlayyah, Ḥammād b. Zayd, ʿAbd al-Wārith and Jaʿfar b. Sulaymān agreed upon. Abū Qilābah also narrated it and made it mawqūf, and I did not hear it from him except through the hadith of Ayyūb. The companions of Ayyūb did not differ, except Ibn Ṭahmān, who raised it. ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal narrated it and made it mawqūf, except that Abū Zayd raised it from him, and ʿĀṣim is a better memorizer than Abū Zayd, God willing. Isḥāq b. Suwayd and ʿĀʾishah bint ʿIrār also narrated it and made it mawqūf.
