وَبِهِ: حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ قَالَ: قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ:

إِيَّاكُمْ وَثَلَاثَةً: زَلَّةَ عَالِمٍ، وَجِدَالَ مُنَافِقٍ، وَدُنْيَا تَقْطَعُ أَعْنَاقَكُمْ. فَأَمَّا زَلَّةُ عَالِمٍ فَإِنِ اهْتَدَى فَلَا تُقَلِّدُوهُ دِينَكُمْ، وَإِنْ زَلَّ فَلَا تَقْطَعُوا عَنْهُ آمَالَكُمْ. وَأَمَّا جِدَالُ مُنَافِقٍ بِالْقُرْآنِ، فَإِنَّ لِلْقُرْآنِ مَنَارًا كَمَنَارِ الطَّرِيقِ، فَمَا عَرَفْتُمْ فَخُذُوهُ، وَمَا أَنْكَرْتُمْ فَرُدُّوهُ إِلَى عَالِمِهِ. وَأَمَّا دُنْيَا تَقْطَعُ أَعْنَاقَكُمْ، فَمَنْ جَعَلَ اللهُ فِي قَلْبِهِ غِنًى؛ فَهُوَ الْغَنِيُّ

Translation

✧ Beware of three things: the slip of a scholar, the argument of a hypocrite, and a worldly life that cuts your necks. As for the slip of a scholar: if he is guided, do not imitate him in your religion; but if he slips, do not cut off your hopes from him. As for the argument of a hypocrite using the Qur'an: the Qur'an has a beacon like the beacon of a road; whatever you recognize, take it, and whatever you reject, refer it to its knowledgeable one. As for a worldly life that cuts your necks: whoever God places richness in his heart, he is truly rich.
