حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ قَالَ: نَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى بْنِ أَبِي الْمُسَاوِرِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَيْرِيزٍ. عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ:
بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: انْطَلِقْ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَتَجِدَهُ فِي دَارِهِ جَالِسًا مُحْتَبِيًا، فَقُلْ لَهُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ، وَيَقُولُ: أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ، ثُمَّ انْطَلِقْ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَ الثَّنِيَّةَ، فَتَلْقَى عُمَرَ فِيهَا عَلَى حِمَارٍ تَلُوحُ صَلْعَتُهُ، فَقُلْ لَهُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ، وَيَقُولُ: أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ، ثُمَّ انْطَلِقْ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَ السُّوقَ، فَتَلْقَى عُثْمَانَ فِيهَا يَبِيعُ وَيَبْتَاعُ، فَقُلْ لَهُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ، وَيَقُولُ: أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ بَعْدَ بَلَاءٍ شَدِيدٍ " فَانْطَلَقْتُ، فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ جَالِسًا مُحْتَبِيًا كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ، وَيَقُولُ: " أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ " قَالَ: وَأَيْنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟ قُلْتُ: فِي مَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ الثَّنِيَّةَ، فَإِذَا فِيهَا عُمَرُ عَلَى حِمَارٍ تَلُوحُ صَلْعَتُهُ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ. فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ، وَيَقُولُ: " أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ " قَالَ: وَأَيْنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: فِي مَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ انْطَلَقْتُ حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ السُّوقَ، فَلَقِيتُ عُثْمَانَ فِيهَا يَبِيعُ وَيَبْتَاعُ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ، وَيَقُولُ: " أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ بَعْدَ بَلَاءٍ شَدِيدٍ "، فَقَالَ: وَأَيْنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟ قُلْتُ: فِي مَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَجِئْنَا جَمِيعًا حَتَّى أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُثْمَانُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ زَيْدًا أَتَانِي، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ، وَيَقُولُ: " أَبْشِرْ بِالْجَنَّةِ بَعْدَ بَلَاءٍ شَدِيدٍ "، فَأَيُّ بَلَاءٍ يُصِيبُنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا تَعَنَّيْتُ وَلَا تَمَنَّيْتُ، وَلَا مَسِسْتُ ذَكَرِي بِيَمِينِي مُنْذُ بَايَعْتُكَ، فَقَالَ: " هُوَ ذَاكَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me and said: 'Go until you come to Abu Bakr, and you will find him sitting in his house with his legs drawn up. Say to him: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sends you greetings of peace and says: Rejoice in Paradise. Then go until you come to the mountain pass, and you will meet 'Umar there on a donkey, his baldness shining. Say to him: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sends you greetings of peace and says: Rejoice in Paradise. Then go until you come to the market, and you will meet 'Uthman there selling and buying. Say to him: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sends you greetings of peace and says: Rejoice in Paradise after severe trial.' So I went and came to Abu Bakr, and I found him in his house sitting with his legs drawn up, just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had said. I said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sends you greetings of peace and says: Rejoice in Paradise.' He said: 'Where is the Messenger of Allah?' I said: 'In such-and-such a place.' 'Uthman said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah, Zayd came to me and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sends you greetings of peace and says: Rejoice in Paradise after severe trial. So what trial will befall me, O Messenger of Allah? By the One who sent you with the truth, I have not wished for what is not mine, nor longed for anything, nor touched my private part with my right hand since I pledged allegiance to you.' He said: 'It is that.'
