✧ Tamim al-Dari prayed two rak'ahs after 'Umar b. al-Khattab had forbidden prayer after 'Asr. 'Umar came to him and struck him with the whip. Tamim gestured to him to sit while he was still in his prayer. 'Umar sat until Tamim finished, then said to 'Umar, 'Why did you strike me?' He said, 'Because you prayed these two rak'ahs, and I have forbidden them.' He said, 'I prayed them with one better than you, with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' 'Umar said, 'My concern is not with you, O company, but I fear that after you there will come people who will pray between 'Asr and Maghrib until they pass through the hour in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade praying, just as they pray between Zuhr and 'Asr, then they will say, "We saw so-and-so and so-and-so praying after 'Asr."'
