حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ قَالَ: نَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَتِيقٍ وَأَيُّوبَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَعْتَقَ سِتَّةَ أَعْبُدٍ لَهُ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُمْ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَدَعَاهُمْ، فَجَزَّأَهُمْ، ثُمَّ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ، فَأَعْتَقَ اثْنَيْنِ، وَأَرَقَّ أَرْبَعَةً

Translation

✧ A man freed six of his slaves upon his death, and he had no property other than them. The Prophet ﷺ was informed of that, so he called them, divided them into portions, and drew lots among them. He freed two and kept four in bondage.
