✧ The Commander of the Faithful 'Umar wrote to me when Syria had laid down its burdens, with wheat and honey, that I should march to India, and I was averse to that. He said: India in our minds that day was Basra. A man said: Fear Allah, O Abu Sulayman, for trials have appeared. He said: And Ibn al-Khattab is alive? They will only occur after him, while the people are at Dhi Billiyan, at such-and-such a place and such-and-such a place. A man will look and think whether he can find a place where nothing like what has befallen his current place of trial and evil has occurred, and he will not find it. Those are the days that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned before the Hour, the days of harj. So seek refuge with Allah that those days may overtake me and you.
