حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثَنَا أَبِي، ثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، ثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، عَنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ قَالَ:

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، فَأَخَذْتُ بِعِضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ وَهُوَ مُسَجًّى، فَقُلْتُ: كَيْفَ تَرَوْنَهُ ؟ قَالُوا: كَمَا تَرَى. قُلْتُ: أَيْقِظُوهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ، فَإِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تُوقِظُوهُ بِشَيْءٍ أَفْزَعَ لَهُ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ. فَقَالُوا: الصَّلَاةَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَقَالَ: الصَّلَاةُ، هَا، اللهُ إِذًا، " وَلَا حَقَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لِمَنْ تَرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ " فَصَلَّى، وَإِنَّ جُرْحَهُ لَيَثْعَبُ دَمًا

✧ I entered upon 'Umar b. al-Khattab, and I took hold of the doorposts while he was covered with a cloth. I said: How do you see him? They said: As you see. I said: Wake him with the prayer, for you will not wake him with anything more startling to him than the prayer. So they said: The prayer, O Commander of the Believers. He said: The prayer, ha, by Allah then, "and there is no right in Islam for the one who abandons the prayer." So he prayed while his wound was flowing with blood.
