✧ He used to come every Thursday and stand, not sitting. He would say: "Do not kill people, for among them are the elderly, the weak, and the needy." Then he would say: "These are two matters: the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad ﷺ, the truest speech is the Book of God, the worst of affairs are their innovations, and every innovation is misguidance. Indeed, the wretched is he who was wretched in his mother's womb, and the blessed is he who takes admonition from others. Let not time grow long for you, nor hope distract you, for everything that is coming is near, and only what is not coming is far. Among the worst of people is the idle by day and the corpse by night. Killing a believer is disbelief, and reviling him is sin. It is not lawful for a Muslim to shun his brother for more than three days. Indeed, the worst of mounts are the mounts of lying. Lying is not suitable, whether in seriousness or jest, nor that a man promise his child then not fulfill it. Indeed, lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire; truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. The truthful is said of him: he spoke truth and acted righteously; the liar is said of him: he lied and acted wickedly. I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: A servant keeps telling the truth until he is recorded with God as a truthful one, and he keeps lying until he is recorded with God as a liar. Do you know what slander is? It is he said and it was said; it is talebearing that corrupts between people."
