حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، نَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، عَنِ الْعَوَّامِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ:
أَقَامَ رَجُلٌ سِلْعَةً، فَحَلَفَ بِاللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَقَدْ أُعْطِيَ بِهَا مَا لَمْ يُعْطَ بِهَا لِيُوقِعَ فِيهَا مُسْلِمًا "، فَنَزَلَتْ: إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا

✧ A man put up a commodity for sale and swore by God, besides whom there is no deity, that he had been given for it what he had not been given, in order to deceive a Muslim. Then the verse was revealed: 'Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of God and their oaths for a small price...'
