✧ Khuzaymah b. Thabit—not the Ansari—was in a caravan belonging to Khadijah, and the Prophet ﷺ was with him in that caravan. He said to him: "O Muhammad, I see in you certain qualities, and I bear witness that you are the Prophet who will emerge from Tihamah. I have believed in you, so when I hear of your emergence, I will come to you." He was delayed from the Prophet ﷺ until the day of the conquest of Makkah, then he came to him. When the Prophet ﷺ saw him, he said: "Welcome to the first emigrant." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what prevented me from being among the first to come to you, while I believe in you, not denying your pledge, and not breaking my covenant with you, and I believed in the Quran and disbelieved in the idol, was only that after you left us we were struck by severe, consecutive years of drought, which left the marrow thin and the riding camels gaunt, their milk dried up and their flesh wasted, and the young camels became huddled and the qantah or the thorny trees became dry, and the reeds became twisted; the fresh vegetation withered in the land, and it consumed all the dry plants and destroyed the roots of the reeds, until the qantah was cut off. I came to you not breaking my covenant, and not denying my pledge." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Take it from you: Indeed, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, stretches out His hand at night for the one who sins by day to repent, and if he repents, Allah accepts his repentance; and He stretches out His hand by day for the one who sins by night to repent, and if he repents, Allah accepts his repentance. Indeed, the truth is heavy, like its heaviness on the Day of Resurrection, and falsehood is light, like its lightness on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by desires." He said: "O Messenger of Allah."
