✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed a man from the Ansar, called Ibn al-Lutbiyyah, to collect the sadaqah. When he returned, the Prophet ﷺ sent for him to settle his account. He said: "This is for you, and this was given to me as a gift." That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "We appoint men from among you over what Allah has entrusted to us. When one of them returns, he says: 'This is for you, and this was given to me as a gift.' Why did he not sit in the house of his father and mother and see whether he would be given gifts? Whoever of you works for us, let him bring us all of it, the small and the great. And let one of you beware of coming on the Day of Resurrection with a camel on his neck that bellows, or a cow that moos, or a sheep that bleats"—or he said—"that bleats."
