حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بُشَيْرٍ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ أَبُو طَالِبٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ الرَّقِّيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ. عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:

أَوَّلُ خَبَرٍ جَاءَنَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَبْعَثَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ: أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ كَانَ لَهَا تَابِعٌ مِنَ الْجِنِّ، جَاءَ فِي صُورَةِ طَيْرٍ، حَتَّى وَقَعَ عَلَى جِذْعٍ لَهُمْ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: أَلَا تَنْزِلُ إِلَيْنَا فَتُحَدِّثَنَا، وَنُحَدِّثَكَ، وَتُحَذِّرَنَا وَنُحَذِّرَكَ ؟ فَقَالَ: لَا، إِنَّهُ قَدْ بُعِثَ بِمَكَّةَ نَبِيٌّ حَرَّمَ الزِّنَى، وَمَنَعَ مِنَّا الْقَرَارَ

✧ The first news that came to us in Madinah of the sending of the Messenger of God ﷺ was that a woman of the people of Madinah had a companion (tabi') from the jinn who came in the form of a bird and perched on a trunk of theirs. She said to him: "Will you not come down to us and talk to us, and we will talk to you, and warn us and we will warn you?" He said: "No, for a Prophet has been sent in Makkah who has forbidden adultery and prevented us from settling [there]."
