حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْعُمَرِيُّ، ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ - عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَالنَّاسُ حَوْلَهُ -: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، اسْتَحْيُوا مِنَ اللهِ حَقَّ الْحَيَاءِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا لَنَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: " مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مُسْتَحْيِيًا فَلَا يَبِيتَنَّ لَيْلَةً إِلَّا وَأَجَلُهُ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ، وَلْيَحْفَظِ الْبَطْنَ وَمَا وَعَى وَالرَّأْسَ وَمَا حَوَى، وَلْيَذْكُرِ الْقُبُورَ وَالْبِلَى، وَلْيَتْرُكْ زِينَةَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the minbar while people were around him: O people, be truly shy of Allah. A man said: O Messenger of Allah, we are shy of Allah. He said: Whoever among you is shy, let him not spend a night except with his death before his eyes. Let him guard the stomach and what it contains, and the head and what it gathers. Let him remember the graves and decay, and let him abandon the adornment of the worldly life.
