حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ، نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْمَقَابِرِيُّ، ثَنَا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَا: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

الْغِيبَةُ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الزِّنَا. قِيلَ: وَكَيْفَ ؟ قَالَ: " الرَّجُلُ يَزْنِي ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ، فَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنَّ صَاحِبَ الْغِيبَةِ لَا يُغْفَرُ لَهُ حَتَّى يَغْفِرَ لَهُ صَاحِبُهُ ".

✧ Backbiting is more severe than adultery. It was said: "How so?" He said: "A man commits adultery and then repents, and God accepts his repentance. But the one who backbites is not forgiven until his companion forgives him."
