حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ شَيْبَةَ، ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمُنْكَدِرِيُّ، ثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:
إِنْ كَانَ لَيَمُرُّ شَهْرٌ وَنِصْفُهُ مَا نُوقِدُ فِي بَيْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَارًا لِمِصْبَاحٍ وَلَا لِغَيْرِهِ. قُلْتُ: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ، مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ كُنْتُمْ تَعِيشُونَ ؟ قَالَتْ: " بِالْمَاءِ وَالتَّمْرِ، كَانَ لَنَا جِيرَانٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ لَهُمْ مَنَائِحُ، فَرُبَّمَا أَهْدَوْا لَنَا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ

✧ A month and a half would pass and we would not kindle a fire in the house of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a lamp or anything else. I said: Glory be to Allah, from what did you live? She said: On water and dates. We had neighbors among the Ansar who had milk-giving animals, and sometimes they would gift us some milk.
