✧ A man called Ibn Jurayj, who was argumentative, came to Ibn Umar and said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, I saw you do something no one else does." He said: "Oh? Oh? O Ibn Jurayj, you keep bringing me strange things." He said: "I saw you not raising your voice with the talbiyah until your mount stood upright with you; I saw you trimming your moustache closely; I saw you liking yellow dye; and I saw you wearing sandals made of tanned leather." He said: "As for my talbiyah when my mount stands up straight with me, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not raising his voice with the talbiyah until his mount stood up straight with him. As for clipping my moustache closely, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ clipping his moustache closely. As for the yellow dye, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ liking yellow dye. As for wearing tanned-leather sandals, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ liking them, and he performed ablution while wearing them."
