حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ، قَالَ: نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
بَيْنَا أَنَا قَاعِدٌ، إِذْ جَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ ﷺ، فَوَكَزَ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيَّ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَى شَجَرَةٍ فِيهَا مِثْلُ وَكْرَيِ الطَّيْرِ، فَقَعَدَ فِي أَحَدِهِمَا، وَقَعَدْتُ فِي الْآخَرِ، فَسَمَتْ وَارْتَفَعَتْ حَتَّى إِذَا سَدَّتِ الْخَافِقَيْنِ، وَأَنَا أُقَلِّبُ طَرْفِي، فَلَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أَمَسَّ السَّمَاءَ مَسَسْتُ، فَالْتَفَتُ، فَإِذَا جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ كَأَنَّهُ حِلْسٌ لَاطِئٌ فَعَرَفْتُ فَضْلَ عِلْمِهِ بِاللهِ عَلَيَّ، وَفُتِحَ لِي بَابٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَرَأَيْتُ النُّورَ الْأَعْظَمَ، وَلَطَّ دُونِي الْحِجَابُ رَفْرَفَةُ الدُّرِّ وَالْيَاقُوتِ، فَأَوْحَى اللهُ إِلَيَّ مَا شَاءَ أَنْ يُوحِيَ

✧ While I was sitting, Jibrīl ﷺ came and poked me between my shoulders. I stood up to a tree in which there were things like two bird nests. He sat in one of them and I sat in the other. It rose and ascended until it blocked the two horizons. I was turning my gaze, and if I had wished to touch the sky, I would have touched it. I turned and saw Jibrīl ﷺ as if he were a worn-out saddlecloth clinging [to the ground]. Thus I recognized the superiority of his knowledge of Allah over mine. A gate of heaven was opened for me, and I saw the greatest light. A veil was let down before me—a fluttering of pearls and rubies. Then Allah revealed to me what He willed to reveal.
