✧ I heard Maymūn al-Kurdī when he was with Mālik b. Dīnār. Mālik b. Dīnār said to him: 'Why does the shaykh not narrate from his father? Your father met the Prophet ﷺ and heard from him.' He said: 'My father would not narrate to us from the Prophet ﷺ for fear of adding or subtracting. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire." But I will narrate to you from him a hadith that I heard him narrate more than once, twice, or three times. He would say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Any man who marries a woman and on the day he marries her does not intend to give her her dowry, he will meet Allah, Mighty and Majestic, on the Day of Resurrection as an adulterer. And any man who takes a debt not intending to repay it, then dies without repaying it, he will meet Allah, Blessed and Exalted, as a thief."'
