حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ خِدَاشٍ قَالَ: نَا صَالِحٌ الْمُرِّيُّ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْفَرَزْدَقَ بْنَ غَالِبٍ، يَقُولُ:
لَقِيتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ بِالشَّامِ، فَقَالَ لِي: " أَنْتَ الْفَرَزْدَقُ ؟ " فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ. فَقَالَ: " أَنْتَ الشَّاعِرُ ؟ " قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ. فَقَالَ: " أَمَا إِنَّكَ إِنْ بَقِيتَ لَقِيتَ قَوْمًا يَقُولُونَ: لَا تَوْبَةَ لَكَ، فَإِيَّاكَ أَنْ تَقْطَعَ رَجَاءَكَ مِنَ اللهِ

✧ I met Abu Hurayra in Syria, and he said to me: "Are you al-Farazdaq?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Are you the poet?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Indeed, if you remain, you will meet people who say: 'There is no repentance for you,' so beware of cutting off your hope from God."
