حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ النَّرْسِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ هِشَامِ بْنِ بَهْرَامَ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ قَالَ: نَا هِشَامُ بْنُ لَاحِقٍ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ الْهُجَيْمِيِّ قَالَ:
بَيْنَا أَنَا فِي حَائِطٍ مِنْ حِيطَانِ الْمَدِينَةِ إِذْ بَصُرْتُ بِامْرَأَةٍ، فَلَمْ يَكُنْ لِي هَمٌّ غَيْرَهَا حَتَّى جَازَتْنِي، ثُمَّ أَتْبَعْتُهَا بَصَرِي، حَتَّى حَازَيْتُ الْحَائِطَ، فَالْتَفَتُّ فَأَصَابَ وَجْهِيَ وَأَدْمَانِي، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَقُلْتُ: هَلَكْتُ. فَقَالَ: " وَمَا ذَاكَ يَا أَبَا تَمِيمَةَ ؟ " فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِذَا أَرَادَ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا عَجَّلَ لَهُ عُقُوبَةَ ذَنْبِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَرَبُّنَا تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَكْرَمُ مِنْ أَنْ يُعَاقِبَ بِذَنْبٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ

✧ While I was in one of the gardens of Madinah, I caught sight of a woman, and I had no concern other than her until she passed by me. Then I followed her with my gaze until I reached the wall, and I turned and my face was scratched and made me bleed. I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I am ruined.' He said: 'And what is that, O Abu Tamimah?' I told him, and he said: 'When God, Mighty and Majestic, intends good for a servant, He hastens the punishment of his sin in this world. Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted, is too generous to punish a sin twice.'
