حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ: نَا الْمُعَافَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ: نَا مُوسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ لَيْلًا، فَقَالَ: " مَنْ هَذَا ؟ " فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ، فَقَالَ: " أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ "، فَأَمْسَكْتُ لَهُ نَاقَتَهُ، وَانْطَلَقَ حَتَّى مَا رَأَيْتُهُ، ثُمَّ عَادَ فَوَضَّأْتُهُ، " فَحَسَرَ عَنْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ، فَضَاقَ كُمُّ الْجُبَّةِ، فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا فَتَوَضَّأَ، فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ". فَقُلْتُ: أَلَا تَنْزِعُ خُفَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَدْخَلْتُهُمَا طَاهِرَتَيْنِ

✧ I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey at night, and he said: "Who is this?" I said: "I am al-Mughirah b. Shu'bah." He said: "Hold onto your (camel)," so I held his she-camel for him, and he went off until I could not see him. Then he returned, and I poured water for his ablution. He rolled up his sleeves, but the sleeve of his jubbah was tight, so he pulled his hands out from beneath it and performed ablution: he washed his hands, his face, and his forearms, wiped his head, and wiped over his khuffs (leather socks). I said: "Will you not remove your khuffs, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "I put them on while they were pure."
