✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about a found item that is found in inhabited land in a watercourse. He said: 'Announce it for a year; if its owner comes, then it is his, otherwise it is yours.' He was asked about a found item found in enemy territory, and he said: 'For it and for buried treasure is one fifth.' He was asked about a stray sheep, and he said: 'Take it, for it is for you, your brother, or the wolf.' He was asked about a stray camel, and he said: 'Leave it, for with it are its shoes and its water skin; it will come to water and eat from trees.' He was asked about the mountain guard (protected livestock), and he said: 'He is beaten several times and the fine is multiplied on him; but if it is from the pen and reaches the value of a shield—which is one dinar—then amputation applies; and if it is less than that, he is beaten several times and the fine is multiplied.'
