✧ He used to deliver the sermon leaning against a palm trunk, resting his back on it. It was said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, Islam has spread and people have become many, and delegations come to you from all horizons. If only you would order something to be made for you to stand on." He said to a man, "Can you make the pulpit?" He said, "Yes." He said, "What is your name?" He said, "So-and-so." He said, "You are not its maker." Then he called another and said, "Can you make the pulpit?" He said, "Yes." He said the same as he said to this one. The man said, "Yes, if Allah wills." He said, "What is your name?" He said, "Ibrahim." He said, "Take up its making." When he had made it, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended it, and the trunk—the palm trunk—yearned like a she-camel. The people of the mosque—or he said: the people of Madinah—heard its sound. He descended and embraced it, and it became still. He said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, had I left it, it would have kept yearning until the Day of Resurrection—or it would have kept yearning as long as I did not leave it."
