حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ قَالَ: نَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْخَبَّازُ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ:
لَمَّا جَاءَ نَعْيُ النَّجَاشِيِّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ. قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، تُصَلِّي عَلَى حَبَشِيٍّ ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ: وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَمَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَمَا أُنْـزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ

✧ When the news of the death of the Negus came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Pray over him." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you pray over an Abyssinian?" So Allah revealed: "And indeed, among the People of the Scripture are those who believe in Allah and what was revealed to you" (Qur'an 3:199).
