✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ established brotherhood between two men of his companions. One of them was killed, and the other lived after him as long as God willed, then he died. The companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ started supplicating for him, and the utmost of their supplication was that God join him with his brother who had been killed. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Which of the two do you say is more virtuous?” They said: “The one who was killed.” He said: “Do you not give merit to this one’s prayer and fasting? The distance between them is greater than between heaven and earth.” Thus he gave superiority to the one who died [naturally] over the one who was killed.
