حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ
أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي حُبَيْشٍ قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أُسْتَحَاضُ فَلَا أَطْهُرُ، أَفَأَتْرُكُ الصَّلَاةَ ؟ قَالَ: إِنَّ تِيكَ لَيْسَتْ بِالْحَيْضَةِ، إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ عِرْقٌ، فَإِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَاتْرُكِي الصَّلَاةَ، وَإِذَا وَلَّتْ - أَوْ قَالَتْ: أَدْبَرَتْ - فَاغْسِلِي عَنْكِ الدَّمَ وَصَلِّي

✧ Fatimah bt. Abi Hubaysh said: "O Messenger of God, I have prolonged bleeding and do not become pure; should I abandon prayer?" He said: "That is not menstruation; it is a vein. When menstruation comes, abandon prayer, and when it departs— or she said: turns away— wash the blood from yourself and pray."
