✧ The Prophet of Allah ﷺ led them in the ʿAsr prayer, then stood among them as a speaker and said in his sermon: 'Indeed, this world is green and sweet, and Allah is making you successors in it, so He is watching how you act. Beware of the world and beware of women. Indeed, every treacherous one will have a banner on the Day of Resurrection, according to the measure of his treachery, placed near his anus. Indeed, the greatest treachery is the treachery of a leader of the common people. Indeed, anger is a burning coal placed on the heart of the son of Adam. Do you not see when one becomes angry, how his eyes turn red and his jugular veins swell? So whoever experiences any of that, if he is standing let him sit down, and if he is sitting let him cling to the ground. Indeed, people in anger are of different ranks: a man quick to anger and quick to calm down—that is neither against him nor for him; a man slow to anger and slow to calm down—that is neither against him nor for him; a man slow to anger and quick to calm down—that is for him; and a man quick to anger and slow to calm down—that is against him. Indeed, the son of Adam was created in stages: a servant may be created a believer, live as a believer, and die as a believer; a servant may be created a disbeliever, live as a disbeliever, and die as a disbeliever; a servant may be created a believer, live as a believer, and die as a disbeliever; and a servant may be created a disbeliever, live as a disbeliever, and die as a believer.' He also mentioned: 'Indeed, people in seeking are of different ranks: a man who, when he seeks, is harsh, and when he is sought from, fulfills—that equals that; a man who, when he seeks, withholds, and when he is sought from, is taken from—that equals that; a man who, when he seeks, withholds and takes, and when he is sought from, fulfills—that is better for him; and a man who, when he seeks, withholds, and when he is sought from, defrauds—that is worse for him. Indeed, might one of you see an evil and not change it? Indeed, sixty-nine nations have passed before you, and you are completing seventy. Indeed, what has passed of the world compared to what remains is like what has passed of this day of yours compared to what remains.' That was when the sun had turned yellow and was about to set.
