✧ Umar b. al-Khattab addressed the people at al-Jabiyah, saying: O people, whoever wishes to ask about the Quran, let him go to Ubayy b. Ka'b. Whoever wishes to ask about the obligatory shares, let him go to Zayd b. Thabit. Whoever wishes to ask about fiqh, let him go to Mu'adh b. Jabal. Whoever wishes to ask about wealth, let him come to me, for God has made me its guardian and distributor. I begin with the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, then the first Muhajirun who were expelled from their homes and their properties—and he recited the entire verse. Whoever hastened to the Hijrah, the giving hastens to him; whoever was slow in the Hijrah, the giving is slow to him. Let no man blame anyone but the resting place of his mount.
