✧ I entered upon ʿĀʾishah and asked her about the two rakʿahs after ʿAṣr. She said, “By the One who took his soul ﷺ, he did not leave them until he met God. And he did not meet God until he had become too weak to pray standing, and he used to pray most of his prayers sitting.” Umm Ayman said to her, “ʿUthmān used to forbid them.” She said, “You speak truly, but the Messenger of God ﷺ used to pray them, and he did not pray them in the mosque for fear of making it burdensome for his community, and he loved whatever lightened their burden.”
