✧ The martyrs are three: a believer with excellent faith who meets the enemy and is true to Allah until he is killed—that is the one to whom people will raise their necks on the Day of Resurrection; a believer with excellent faith who meets the enemy and is struck by a stray arrow that kills him—that one is in the second degree; and a believer who has wronged himself, meets the enemy and is true to Allah until he is killed—that one is in the third degree.

machine translationHe is ʿAbdullāh b. Lahīʿah b. ʿUqbah; he attributed him to his grandfather. Rather, it is from ʿAṭāʾ b. Dīnār, from Abū Yazīd al-Khawlānī, that he heard Faḍālah, from ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb, from the Prophet ﷺ, and this is the sound (ṣaḥīḥ) version.
