حَدَّثَنَا حَمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَمَدٍ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْكَاتِبُ قَالَ: نَا كُرْدُوسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ قَالَ: نَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ:

كَانَ الْعَبَّاسُ عَمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِيمَنْ يَحْرُسُهُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْـزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ وَاللهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ، تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَرَسَ

✧ Al-Abbas, the paternal uncle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was among those who guarded him. When this verse was revealed: 'O Messenger, convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord; and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people,' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ discontinued the guard.
