✧ The Prophet of God ﷺ said on the day of Khaybar: 'I will surely send a man whom God will not disgrace.' He sent for Ali, who was in the saddle grinding, and none of you would grind. They brought him with inflamed eyes. He said: 'O Prophet of God, I can hardly see.' He blew into his eyes and shook the banner three times, then handed it to him, and victory was granted through him. He brought Safiyyah bt. Huyayy. Then he said to his cousins: 'Which of you will be my ally in this world and the Hereafter?' He said to each man among them: 'O so-and-so, will you be my ally in this world and the Hereafter?' three times, and each said: 'No.' Until he passed by the last of them. Ali said: 'O Prophet of God, I am your ally in this world and the Hereafter.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'You are my ally in this world and the Hereafter.' He said: He sent Abu Bakr with Surah al-Tawbah, then sent Ali after him. Abu Bakr said: 'O Ali, perhaps God and His Messenger are displeased with me.' Ali said: 'No, but the Prophet of God ﷺ said: "It is not proper that anyone convey from me except a man from me and I am from him."' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ placed his garment over Ali, Fatimah, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn, then said: 'God only desires to remove impurity from you, O People of the House, and to purify you completely.' And he was the first to embrace Islam among the people after Khadijah. He said: Ali risked his own life, wearing the Prophet's ﷺ garment and sleeping in his place. He said: The polytheists were throwing at the Messenger of God ﷺ.
