✧ I entered the mosque and recognized hunger in the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I asked Umm Sulaym, 'Do you have anything?' She gestured with her two hands and said, 'I have something.' I said, 'Prepare it; knead dough.' I sent Anas and said, 'Go and whisper in his ear and invite him.' When Anas came back, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'This is a man who has come to you to give us something. Did Abu Talha send you to invite us?' Anas said, 'Yes.' He said, 'Get up, in the name of Allah.' Anas turned and hurried until he came to Abu Talha and said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has come to you with the people.' Abu Talha said, 'I met him at the door on the landing of the stairs and said, "What have you done to us, O Messenger of Allah? I only recognized hunger in your face, so I prepared something for you to eat." He said, 'Enter and rejoice.' He entered, and the dish was brought, and he began smoothing it with his hand, then said, 'Is there any?' as if he meant condiment. We brought him our small butter-skin, which had something in it—or perhaps nothing—and he took it in his hand, and ghee poured from it. He said, 'Admit to me ten at a time.' They were about a hundred. They entered and ate until they were full. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about the leftover food, 'Eat, you and your dependents.' So they ate and were full.
