✧ Tufayl b. Amr al-Dawsi came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, would you like a fortified stronghold and protection? He meant a stronghold that belonged to Daws in pre-Islamic times. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ declined that because of what Allah had reserved for the Helpers. When the Prophet ﷺ emigrated to Madinah, Tufayl b. Amr emigrated to him, and a man from his people emigrated with him. The man found the climate of Madinah unsuited to him and became distressed. He took some broad-bladed arrows he had and cut his finger joints with them, and his hands bled profusely until he died. Tufayl b. Amr saw him in his sleep, in a good appearance, covering his hands. He said: What did your Lord do with you? He said: He forgave me because of my emigration to His Prophet ﷺ. He said: Why do I see you covering your hands? He said: It was said to me: We will not repair what you corrupted. Tufayl related this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: O Allah, and for his hands, forgive.
