✧ Some Bedouins from 'Uraynah came to the Prophet ﷺ, but they found Madinah unhealthy, until their complexions turned yellow and their bellies swelled. The Prophet ﷺ sent them to some milch camels of his and ordered them to drink from their milk and urine. They drank until they recovered, then they killed the herdsman and drove off the camels. The Prophet ﷺ sent after them, and they were brought back. He cut off their hands and feet on opposite sides and gouged out their eyes. Amir al-Mu'minin 'Abd al-Malik b. Marwan said to Anas, while he was narrating this hadith: "Was it for disbelief or for a sin?" He said: "For disbelief." Then he said: "This verse was revealed after he cut off their hands and feet and gouged out their eyes: 'The recompense of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger...' (al-Ma'idah 5:33)."

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThere is disagreement about it concerning Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd. Ṭalḥah b. Muṣarrif narrated it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd from Anas in full. Maslamah b. ʿAlī and Muʿāwiyah b. Ṣāliḥ, in the narration of Rishdīn from him, narrated it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd from Anas that the Prophet ﷺ permitted the urine of camels to be drunk, adding nothing to this. Al-Layth b. Saʿd, Yaḥyā b. Ayyūb, and Muʿāwiyah b. Ṣāliḥ, in the narration of Ibn Wahb from him, contradicted them and narrated it from Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd from Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab as a mursal (mursal) report from the Prophet ﷺ, and that is closer to being correct.

machine translationWe do not know anyone who said, "from Yaḥyā, from Anas" in this hadith other than Ṭalḥah. The correct version in my view, and Allah the Exalted knows best, is Yaḥyā from Saʿīd b. al-Musayyab, as a mursal (mursal) report.
