He said: We came to Khabbāb to visit him, and he said: "We migrated with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking the face of Allah, so our reward became due with Allah. Among us were those who passed on without eating anything of their reward, among them Muṣʿab b. ʿUmayr. He was killed on the day of Uḥud and left behind a striped woolen cloak. When we covered his feet, his head was uncovered, and when we covered his head, his feet were uncovered. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to cover his head, and to put some idhkhir (fragrant grass) over his feet. And among us are those whose fruit has ripened, and he is gathering it."
