أَنْشَدَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ دُوسَتْ لِنَفْسِهِ:
[البحر الكامل] لَا تَبْغِ سِرَّكَ غَيْرَ قَلْبِكَ مَوْضِعًا... فَالسِّرُ بَيْنَ مُضَيَّعٍ وَمُبَاحِثِ وَأَعِدَّ صَبْرَكَ لِلنَّوَائِبِ جُنَّةً... فَالْمَرْءُ رَهْنُ مَصَائِبٍ وَحَوادِثِ وَاسْمَحْ بِمَالِكَ فِي الْحُقُوقِ فَإِنَّمَا... مَالُ الْبَخِيلِ لِحَارِثٍ أَوْ وَارِثِ وَاحْرُثْ لِنَفْسِكَ حَرْثَ خَيْرٍ إِنَّهُ... لَا يَحْصُدُ الْمَعْرُوفَ غَيْرُ الْحَارِثِ لَا يَنْفَعُ التَّدْبِيرُ وَالْحَزْمُ امْرَأً... حَتَّى يُعَزِّزُهُ الْقَضَاءُ بِثَالِثِ

Prepare your patience for calamities as a shield... for a man is held hostage to misfortunes and events. Be generous with your wealth in what is due... for the wealth of the miser goes to a tiller or an heir. Sow for yourself a sowing of good, for... none reaps kindness except the sower. Planning and resolve do not benefit a man... until divine decree strengthens him with a third.
