From the Prophet ﷺ And Abū Saʿīd b. Abī ʿAmr informed us: Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Ṣaffār informed us: Abū Bakr b. Abī al-Dunyā narrated to us: Yaḥyā b. Jaʿfar narrated to me: Yazīd b. Hārūn informed us: Abū ʿUqayl informed us, he said: I saw Muḥammad b. Abī Bakr Muḥammad b. ʿAmr b. Ḥazm enter upon ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUbaydillāh, and he said: "How do you find yourself, may God have mercy on you?" He said: "I praise God to you, and God is praised for the good." He said: "May God grant success to us and to you. I heard Abū Bakr narrating from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'No Muslim ever falls ill, except that God appoints over him two angels from among His angels, who do not leave him until God decrees for him one of the two best outcomes, either death or life. So when the visitors say to him: How do you find yourself? He says: I praise God, I find myself, by God, praised for the good. The two angels say to him: Rejoice in blood that is better than your blood, and in health that is better than your health. But when the visitors say to him: How do you find yourself? He says: I find myself exhausted, distressed, in affliction. The two angels say to him: Rejoice in blood that is worse than your blood, and in an affliction that is longer than your affliction.'" This is the wording of the hadith of Yaḥyā b. Yaḥyā.
