أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَا: نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، نا أَيُّوبُ بنُ سُوَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ،
أَنَّهُ كَانَ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، إِذْ أَتَاهُ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي خَطَبْتُ امْرَأَةً، فَخَطَبَهَا غَيْرِي، فَتَزَوَّجَتْهُ وَتَرَكْتَنِي، فَغَدَوْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَتَلْتُهُ، فَهَلْ لِي مِنْ تَوْبَةٍ؟ فَقَالَ: " أَلَكَ وَالِدَانِ حَيَّانِ أَوْ أَحَدُهُمَا؟ " قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: " تَقَرَّبْ إِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِمَا قَدَرْتَ عَلَيْهِ "، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ بَعْدَ مَا خَرَجَ، فَقَالَ: " لَوْ كَانَ حَيَّيْنِ أَبَوَاهُ أَوْ أَحَدُهُمَا رَجَوْتُ لَهُ أَنَّهُ لَيْسَ شَيْءٌ أحطَ لِلذُّنُوبِ مِنْ بِرِّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ "
