أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُقَيْلٍ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ وَاقِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا مَرَّ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ قَالَ «هَلْ أَعْلَمْتَهُ بِذَلِكَ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «قُمْ فَأَعْلِمْهُ» فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا هَذَا وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأُحِبُّكَ قَالَ أَحَبَّكَ الَّذِي أَحْبَبْتَنِي لَهُ خَالَفَهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ

✧ I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man passed by. A man among the people said: "O Prophet of Allah, by Allah, I love this man." He said: "Have you informed him of that?" He said: "No." He said: "Get up and inform him." So he went to him and said: "O you, by Allah, I love you." He said: "May He for whose sake you loved me love you." Hammad b. Salamah disagreed with him.
