✧ The Man Hitting His Wife

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَضْرِبُوا إِمَاءَ اللهِ» فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ «قَدْ ذَئِرَ النِّسَاءُ عَلَى أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَضَرَبُوهُنَّ فَطَافَ بِآلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نِسَاءٌ كَثِيرٌ» فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَقَدْ طَافَ بِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ اللَّيْلَةَ سَبْعُونَ امْرَأَةً كُلُّهُمْ يَشْتَكِينَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ وَلَا تَجِدُونَ أُولَئِكَ خِيَارَكُمْ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Do not strike the maidservants of Allah.” Then 'Umar came and said: “The women have become defiant against their husbands,” so he permitted them [to strike], and they struck them. Then many women went around the family of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Seventy women went around the family of Muhammad ﷺ tonight, all of them complaining about their husbands. You will not find those [who strike] among the best of you.”
