"Abdullah bin Tawus prayed beside me at Mina, in Masjid Al-Khaif, and when he made the first prostration he raised his head and raised his hands up to his face. I found that strange and I said to Wuhaib bin Khalid: "This man does something that I have never seen anyone do." Wuhaib said to him: 'You do something that I have never seen anyone do.' Abdullah bin Tawus said: 'I saw my father do it, and my father said: "I saw Ibn 'Abbas do it and 'Abullah bin Abbas said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing it.'"

Notes

machine translationAl-Naḍr b. Kathīr: al-Bukhārī said of him, "there is something to look into concerning him (fīhi naẓar)", and on another occasion he said, "he has objectionable reports (manākīr)". Al-ʿUqaylī said, "al-Naḍr is not corroborated in it." Ibn ʿAdī said, "he is one of those whose hadith is written down," and he included this hadith among his reports, according to which he used to raise his hands every time he bowed and prostrated, and he would raise them between the two prostrations. Imam Aḥmad declared this al-Naḍr weak (ḍaʿīf). Abū Ḥātim and al-Dāraquṭnī said, "there is something to look into concerning him (fīhi naẓar)". Al-Nasāʾī said, "fair (ṣāliḥ)".
