أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ سَالِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ فِي سَفَرٍ فَعَطَسَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقَالَ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أُمِّكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ
لَعَلَّكَ وَجَدْتَ مِمَّا قُلْتُ لَكَ إِنَّمَا قُلْتُ لَكَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ عَطَسَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى أُمِّكَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «إِذَا عَطَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَحْمَدِ اللهَ» فَذَكَرَ بَعْضَ الْمَحَامِدِ وَلْيَقُلْ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ يَرْحَمُكَ اللهُ وَلْيَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِمْ يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لَنَا وَلَكُمْ 9983 أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ نَحْوَهُ

✧ Perhaps you found something objectionable in what I said to you. I only said to you as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a man from the group sneezed and said: “Peace be upon you.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Upon you and upon your mother.” Then he said: “When one of you sneezes, let him praise Allah,” and he mentioned some of the praises, “and let those with him say: ‘May Allah have mercy on you,’ and let him respond to them: ‘May Allah forgive us and you.’” 9983: Ahmad b. Sulayman informed us, he said: ‘Ubayd Allah narrated to us from Isra’il from Mansur from Hilal b. Yasaf from Salim b. ‘Ubayd, something similar.
