أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ وَاسْمُهُ طَرِيفُ بْنُ مُجَالِدٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَلْهُجَيْمَ
أَنَّهُ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَوْصِنِي قَالَ «لَا تَسُبَّنَّ أَحَدًا وَلَا تَزْهَدْ فِي مَعْرُوفٍ وَلَوْ أن تُكَلِّمَ أَخَاكَ وَأَنْتَ مُنْبَسِطٌ إِلَيْهِ بِوَجْهِكَ وَلَوْ أَنْ تُفْرِغَ بِدَلْوِكَ فِي إِنَاءِ الْمُسْتَسْقِي وَاتَّزِرْ إلى نِصْفِ السَّاقِ فَإِنْ أَبَيْتَ فَإِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ وَإِيَّاكَ وَإِسْبَالَ الْإِزَارِ فإن إِسْبَالَ الْإِزَارِ مِنَ الْمَخِيلَةِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمَخِيلَةَ»
Translation

✧ He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: I said: Advise me. He said: "Do not insult anyone, and do not turn away from kindness, even if it is that you speak to your brother while you are cheerful toward him with your face, or that you pour with your bucket into the vessel of one asking for water. And wear the izār to mid-calf, or if you refuse, then to the ankles. And beware of letting the izār hang low, for letting the izār hang low is from arrogance, and Allah does not love arrogance."
